Quarterly update: Fall 2025

Ahhhhh, Fall. The season that seems to bring about the most change, in my opinion.

Watching the leaves fall off the trees seems so much more abrupt that watching them bloom. Harvest has a sense of finality, while sowing seeds seems full of promise and hope.

With that slightly ominous line, here's a few things I have going on:

Pilates! I am working on a 500 hr Pilates training program through the Lab. I'm working with the lovely Jordan Sugarman out of Columbus, Ohio. The in-person classes will be on and off for the next 6 months or so. I have a decent chunk of apprenticeship hours I need to log before I can sit for my PMA written test so if you are looking for Pilates sessions (group or private) reach out! If you are in the Columbus area, or want to travel there I'll be offering session on all the Pilates Apparatus as I progress through the program, including reformer, spine corrector, chair, and ladder barrel. I'm assessing my schedule but looking to add a regular mat class to my schedule at the Flying Spoon as soon as November.

Yoga! I'm adding on another chair yoga class at Taylor'd Wellness in Weirton, Tuesdays from 11:30-12. This half hour class is part-meditation, part-movement and a great midday reset over a lunch break.

Health coaching! I am studying for my NBHWC exam, taking a biweekly class, and one of the requirements to sit the exam is that I need a decent chucnk of coaching hours logged. I'm slowly chipping away, but you're in luck! While I am working on these hours I am doing FREE discovery calls, and first session of the 12 week program FREE. You can download the discovery form under the Services link on the main page of my website.

The newsletter: If you haven't signed up for my bi-weekly newsletter you should! The Sleep, Stress and Schedule fix; the often neglected areas of a health journey that can do wonders to help you over the hump, get started on a health journey, or reset to some of the baseline habits we tend to forget as we evolve on our journeys.

Things I'm letting go of as I move into fall: Step counts! This summer I really enjoyed racking up the steps! Marie and I LOVE to walk, really for hours and hours. As the sun starts to set earlier and rise later, it gives less time for our wanderings. We've modified our walks from the local trail to the neighborhoods that are better lit and a bit safer in the dark. I'm aiming for movement that feels good and natural. I need to spend some time working on my yoga sequencing (I have some ideas for the Winter), pilates planning and overall I was feeling a bit toooooo attached the overall step count. So I'm letting it go, as long as I'm moving in some capacity daily (trying to get back on the peloton again), or maybe I'll start to incorporate more resistance training (I've never been able to stick that one out long term). One day I'll find a strength routine I don't hate. I found some success with Kettlebells and free weights but the problem I run into is needing to keep buying more as my strength improves... and then I fall off. I should just settle for consistency at a lower weight. Alas, the struggles of attempting to build a balanced movement routine.

What's your favorite way to lift? At the gym? At home? Machines or free weights? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time, be your own best friend!
