Quarterly Update: Summer 2026

I think I skipped a spring update, so there’s much to talk about. The biggest news to share is that Ben and I eloped to NOLA! If you missed this post, we snuck off the first weekend of spring and got hitched. It’s been a very rainy spring and summer, so staying caught up on mowing, weeding, and general yard work has been an adventure in itself. I bought a small battery-powered lawn mower a few years back when I purchased the house, and she’s put up a good fight, but we finally retired her. My father-in-law has since gifted us a gas-powered mower, and it’s made a world of difference.

We’ve had a busy summer so far. Ben has been working a LOT, making up for the slowdown we experienced over the winter. During the deep freeze we had, asphalt work came to a standstill since it doesn’t cooperate in temperatures under 45 degrees. Meanwhile, I’ve been teaching Pilates and yoga and recently launched a Women’s Movement Group on WhatsApp (more on that at the end of this post).

My mom came and stayed with us for a few days as well. We spent our time catching up, exploring, and doing lots and lots of walking. We even started doing a StepBet challenge together, which is wrapping up this week. Having an accountability partner makes a world of difference, and it’s part of the reason I’m launching an accountability group of my own. Remember, if you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together. Six weeks of consistently hitting our step goals has definitely been a marathon, not a sprint, and it’s been a reminder that lasting habits are built over time, not overnight.

Teaching: I’ve been teaching yoga, mat Pilates, and Reformer Pilates at Restore in St. C. I’m also opening up private sessions on Wednesdays and Fridays for students who want to receive personalized attention, are working with injuries, or have specific goals for their movement practice.

Toys and whatnot: I’ve added a Pilates Chair and Ladder Barrel to my at-home setup and will be offering private sessions in my home once I get the space ready! Trying to decide how I want to set things up and finding a good scheduling platform are all the details I want to iron out before going public.

Events and such: This weekend, I’ll be at Empowerfest at Waterfront Hall offering mini health coaching sessions. These sessions are going to be FREE, with the option to book additional sessions at a discounted rate.

Coming this fall: I’ll be hosting a Pilates Spine Corrector and Chair workshop at Restore. I’m still trying to solidify dates for that, but I will share more details soon. The best part of Pilates is that it works as a complete system. The same move can be adapted on and off the mat and translated across each piece of apparatus to assist you in reaching your goals. It’s not about a harder or easier variation; it’s about choosing one that may be more accessible to your body. Progress doesn’t come from doing more reps or toughing it out. You meet your body where it’s at and go from there.

Health coaching updates: I’m still working toward my NBHWC certification, with just a few more coaching sessions to complete! If you are interested in booking a coaching call, you can download my discovery form and schedule a session on my website.

So what is this Women’s Movement Group? Starting in July, I’m launching a Women’s Movement Group. The third pillar of the Luxury 12-Week Reset is Sustainable Movement, and potentially the most important. It focuses on movement you can sustain over time. Movement that aligns with your priorities, doesn’t cause pain, feels enjoyable, and fits naturally into your life.

This focus on sustainability has been largely shaped by my transition into Primal coaching. The biggest lifestyle change I’ve made since then is deprioritizing chronic cardio. Chronic cardio refers to overly stressful cardio workouts that are too long, too frequent, and are not balanced with sufficient rest periods in the interim (sorry to all my workout streak aficionados). It was something I had suspected for a long time but didn’t yet have evidence to back it up. My Peloton was kicking my ass, but not in a good way. I would finish my Tabata rides totally drained, the kind of exhaustion you feel after a long day at work when you just want to drive home in silence.

By contrast, the Primal Blueprint focuses on a balanced fitness regimen, emphasizing frequent low-level aerobic exercise, regular brief strength training sessions, occasional all-out sprints, and assorted forms of play to develop cardio endurance, muscular endurance, strength, power, speed, flexibility, and balance. Notice here that it doesn’t mention weight loss. Weight loss comes from what you put in, not what you put out. So I’ve replaced the Peloton with long walks with my dog, except for my sprints since my knees aren’t built for running. I try my hand at pickleball. I’ve added Pilates for strength training, and I keep up with my yoga practice. It’s not about getting “good” as much as it is about translation. Chronic cardio only gets you good at chronic cardio.

Now my knees no longer ache when I hike. When I’m cleaning my house, I can lift furniture while vacuuming with the other hand. I can carry more, lift heavier, and generally have a new range of motion in all my joints. I find the ways movement flows together, from the similarities between Navasana and Teaser poses to chasing my dog in the yard (I need to get her a buddy), and how that movement translates to sprint progress. I’m not training to become an athlete. I’m not training for anything, except getting better at living. There is no endpoint here, no six-month plan that leads up to a marathon and then it’s done. It’s about functional, sustainable movement that supports you in the long term.

This group is designed as a space to share successes, work through roadblocks, and find a new way of movement that works for you. Some of the best movement advice I’ve gotten has been from my peers, whether it’s learning how to modify a practice to make it accessible or discovering an entirely new form of movement. Having a supportive group to lean on can make a world of difference!

The group is FREE to join, though if you’d like to support my work, you’re welcome to visit Buy Me a Coffee. Join via this link and start socializing! With daily check-ins, group challenges, and Primal-aligned tips, this is the place to be if you want to keep moving for a long time, not simply a good time.

Thank you all for reading through this update. I’m so excited to see what the second half of the year brings, and I’d love for you to be a part of it.
